Pearls and Jade Pothos, also known as Epipremnum aureum, is a popular trailing houseplant known for its beautiful variegated leaves. The leaves are heart-shaped and feature a mix of green, white, and creamy yellow colors, creating an attractive pattern that resembles pearls scattered on jade.

Care instructions:

  • Light: Thrives in moderate to bright, indirect light. Can tolerate low light conditions, but may lose some of its variegation. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.
  • Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, but avoid over-watering as it can lead to root rot. Allow for slight drying between waterings.
  • Humidity: Tolerates average indoor humidity, but benefits from higher humidity levels. Misting the leaves or placing a humidity tray nearby can be helpful.
  • Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 20-30°C. Avoid cold drafts or extreme temperature fluctuations.
  • Soil: Well-draining potting mix with good aeration, such as a mix of peat moss, perlite, and/or orchid bark.
  • Fertilizer: Feed every 2-4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength.
  • Propagation: Can be propagated through stem cuttings in water or moist soil.
  • Pruning: Prune to control the plant's size and shape, and to remove any yellow or damaged leaves.
  • Pests and Diseases: Pothos is generally resistant to pests, but can occasionally face issues with mealybugs, scale, and spider mites. Keep an eye out for any signs of infestation and treat promptly. Also, be mindful of potential leaf browning or yellowing due to over-watering or too little light.
